I loved it when I first read it at age 16 or 17, and almost 50 years later it doesn't disappoint. (Perhaps being English and familiar with what it's spoofing helps.)<br /><br />What's a snood? It's a made up word. There are many invented words in the book that parody rural English dialects. The movies don't come near to doing it justice because it is just the kind of descriptive language that makes it charming and funny. My husband and I have read it out load to each other and can barely control our laughter.
